Samuel Joseph Borowski Jr. (/ˌbore-ow-skee/)[1] is an American director, screenwriter, and producer. His filmography has been characterized as eclectic as it has spanned several genres ranging from horror to drama to comedy. Other directorial euphemisms include working with actor Daniel Roebuck(8 times) and frequent references to popular culture and homages to other movies.

Born and raised in Staten Island, New York, Borowski grew up just a few blocks from the house that served as the Corleone Home in the Academy-Award winning film, The Godfather (1972). He began his career as a filmmaker writing and producing the feature-length documentary, Creature Feature: 50 Years of the Gill-Man, which featured Academy-Award Winner Benicio Del Toro and is narrated by A-lister Keith David. The film, tells the story of the era surrounding the creation and distribution of the innovative horror film, Creature From the Black Lagoon, and its impact on the genre. Shortly after he produced the feature, Rex (2008), before directing the short film, The Mandala Maker (2009), which went on to qualify for the 2010 Academy Awards in the Live-Action Short category and garnered no fewer than seven awards the festival circuit, including three in The Accolade competition (for direction, short film and lead actress Courtney Hogan). It also played in the Film Columbia Festival, in a block alongside 2010 Academy-Award Best Picture nominees, Prescious and Up In The Air.
