Sam Buchanan
Sam Taylor Buchanan (born 3 August 1991 in Aldershot, Hampshire, England in the United Kingdom) is an actor. He started his career in acting in 2005 when shooting a television series called Torture and is perhaps best known for his role in the television series iSpy.
Biography[edit]
Although born in England, Sam's stay in England was short-lived; his mother moved to America to be with the rest of his family in New York after Sam turned two. One day when going to local candy shop, Sam was discovered. A man, bringing in his daughter for some of the sweets, found Sam with his cousin and saw potential.
The man was a producer for a show called Torture that was holding an open call. Along with his cousin, the boys went to the open call. After the audition, the casting director smiled, and told Sam "If no one better auditions, you'll be hearing back from us."
When at home, Sam often spends time with his friends, reading, playing with his dog and listening to music.[1]
Career[edit]
Sam's first appearance was in the small-television show Torture where he starred as Elliot Emerling, a high school drug dealer who gets kidnapped. The role was large (he plays one of the six main stars) and jumpstarted his career. After season one was finished, Sam announced his role in the show on his official website. Afterwords Sam acquired a fan base of over 7,000 (as of his fan count on Myspace on 31 March.) Torture also made Sam more noticed; he has appeared in photospreads for many magazines including Shout!
Torture shot all of season one and half of season two before being put on a hiatus for being too violent and expected low ratings.[2] In late May 2007, Sam left Torture due to in-cast fighting. Before season two started shooting again in mid June, Sam had left which broke his contract with the recording studio. The fine was rumoured to be $10,000, although this was later denied in a statement by Buchanan.[3]
After Torture, Sam moved to London for a few months. There, he auditioned for a part in a British television show called iSpy. After getting the part, Sam shot a few episodes of iSpy including the pilot. The show was in post-production until November 2007 and is now being sent to channels with a suspected release date of spring 2008. The show aired its first season starting in May 2008. Sam is currently filming season 2 after it got picked up in June, due to the show's success.
Clips of the pilot episode of iSpy leaked onto the internet on 2 November 2007. Among the clips, which were later removed, where the opening, a fight scene and the ending of the episode.
