Sam Herron (born 13 December 1993) is a Scottish professional rugby league footballer who currently plays as a prop for West Wales Raiders in the Betfred League 1.[1] [2] [3]

He played for Scotland at Under 18's, Student, and A-Grade level, as well as previously playing for Mittagong Lions and Red Star Rugby League Club at a senior level. In 2015 he was also selected for the Scotland International team.

During 2013 he competed in the Tertiary Student Rugby League World Cup at the 2013 Festival of World Cups starting all matches playing against Australia, Russia and New Zealand in the group stages before losing to South Africa in the 5th/6th place play-off. In 2015 he was called up the Scotland A Grade side to play in the Celtic Nations Cup in matches against Ireland and Wales.

Sam made his competitive League 1 debut against Coventry Bears[4] and his Challenge Cup debut for the Raiders was in a loss to Newcastle Thunder.[5]

On 1st April 2019 Sam was named as one of the players in the Betfred League 1 team of the month by Rugby League World being dubbed as the 'stand out performer' in their defeats to Hunslet and Newcastle.[6]

During his stint at Red Star he led a team that won every competition they played in going undefeated for the whole season whilst also winning the four major regional trophies.
