Samantha Robinson is an actress best known for playing the title role in the 2016 horror comedy film The Love Witch.
She was born in New York city to Panamanian and English parents. She moved to London at age three, where she studied acting and dance extensively at LAMDA, performing shows as a child on the West End. At age fourteen she relocated to the United States, where she first attended New World School of the Arts in Miami, and then UCLA where she studied theater, graduating in 2014.[1][2] She performed in several short films and television shows while still in school, landing a major role in the Lifetime Channel movie "Sugar Daddies" starring Peter Strauss.[3]
Soon after graduation she was cast as the lead in the acclaimed feature film The Love Witch, listed on Rotten Tomatoes as one of the top 100 horror films of all time.[4][5] Robinson received numerous accolades for her performance, including glowing mentions by Indiewire,[6] The New York Times,[7] and Birth.Movies.Death.[8] She has also been praised on the sites Roger Ebert.com,[9] The New Yorker,[10] and Slate Magazine[11] as one of the best actresses of 2016. The Love Witch has itself been included in many lists of the Best Movies of 2016.[12][13][14].
Other roles include coffee heiress Abigail Folger in Quentin Tarantino's upcoming film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,[15] and Princess X in the 2018 Netflix film Cam directed by Daniel Goldhaber and co-starring Madeline Brewer. [16]
