Samantha "Sam" Schacher (born August 6, 1980) is an American television, radio, and Internet host, and producer who has appeared on CNN, HLN, MTV, CNBC, Fox, The Young Turks, Good Day L.A., Versus Network, and Hulu.
She was born in Detroit, Michigan but grew up in Santa Cruz, California. She later attended UCLA, graduating with a B.A in sociology and a minor in theatre.[1]
Hosting[edit]
In 2013, Schacher began appearing on HLN's Dr. Drew On Call alongside Dr. Drew Pinsky, eventually becoming his official co-host, before its cancellation in 2016. Most recently, Schacher hosted "SoMe" on FOX, her own talk show centered around Social Media.[2] She has also hosted and produced CNN's Pop 5, as well as offered advice to teens on the popular syndicated radio show, Loveline.[3] Currently Schacher hosts and produces the online pop culture show, Pop Trigger,[4] which dissects pop culture and social media stories on HULU, YouTube, & The Young Turks Network. The channel has over 380,000 subscribers and 185,000,000 views.[5] She also co-created, produced, and hosted Debate Your Fate on GSN's digital portal Door3.
Candle company[edit]
Schacher and her husband founded the candle company Biren & Co. It began when she and her husband, Mark, could not find the type of candle that they wanted for their wedding, so they made candles themselves in their kitchen. Originally called Wick'ed Candles, they rebranded with the help of their new partner, Marcus Lemonis, on CNBC's The Profit.[6][7]
Johnny Manziel hoax[edit]
In 2014, rumors that Schacher filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel were later reported to be a hoax by convict and "serial filer" Jonathan Lee Riches.[8][9]
Personal life[edit]
On December 15, 2016, Schacher announced that she was pregnant with her first child [10] Her daughter Sophie was born on June 9th 2017 [11]
Athletics[edit]
Schacher is a former UCLA swimmer and recently competed in her first boxing fight at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas for charity.
