The Bigger Picture by Lil Baby made and release June 12, 2020 is a song that talks about police brutality, black lives matter and the government. He use lyrics such as "Its too many mothers thats grieving, they kiling us for no reason" talking about the how the police taking a black life for a fault that couldve been dealt differently. While the protest was going on for justice for George Floyd in Lil Baby hometown Alanta, Georgia he was also marching with the protesters and thought about the lyrics of this song and dropped the song the same day. The Bigger Picture has the significance in history of George Floyd who was killed by an White police officer which relates to black lives matter. He also used the lyrics "Every Colored person aint dumb, and all whites not racist" to emphasized that streotypes is not always true.
Same Love by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis was released July 18th, 2012, unofficially adopted as an anthem by supporters of legalizing same-sex marriage. In the song Macklemore made it clear that it was okay to love the same sex just as if it were the opposite. Using the lyrics "Gay is synonyms with the lesser, its the same hate thats caused wars from religion, Gender to skin color the complextion of your pigment. the same fight that lead people to walk outs and sit ins, its human rights for everybody, there's no difference". This was the first song to explicitly embrace and promote gay marriage that has made bilboard top 40. Not only does it advocate for same sex marriage but the entire song is dedicated to arguing for marriage equality.
