Samit Hota (born 2 April 2001) is an Indian cybersecurity Expert and author. He has worked closely with law enforcement agencies, including the CB–CID, to investigate and resolve complex cybercrime cases.

Early life

Samit Hota developed an interest in Tech during his early teens. At age 14, he gained unauthorized access to several network providers to explore connectivity methods. This period also saw him engage with various online hacking communities, where he adopted the handle “WeB DrAG0N” and occasionally hacked government web portals with protest messages.

Biography

In 2018, Samit Hota was invited to collaborate with some undisclosed law enforcement agencies, where he applied his technical expertise to digital forensics, malware analysis, and the tracing of cybercrime and their networks. During this time, he contributed to multiple investigations that disrupted phishing operations and aided in the recovery of compromised systems.

Throughout 2019, Hota’s growing interactions with informal hacking circles(both domestic and international) led to frequent disagreements over tactics and objectives. He opposed indiscriminate data disclosures and unnecessary cyberattacks, believing they undermined efforts to improve overall cybersecurity. At the same time, few members of these groups questioned his ethical stance, fearing he might leverage shared exploits for uninformed initiatives.

By mid-2020, these tensions culminated in Hota’s formal withdrawal from all known hacking collectives. He issued a statement on several underground forums condemning unregulated cyber offensives and announcing his intent to cease offensive activities. Although initial drafts of that statement referenced a planned coalition dubbed “United World Hackers (UWH),” but the idea maybe ultimately abandoned in favor of a strictly defensive approach.
