Samit Hota (born 2 April 2001) is an Indian hacker, cybersecurity expert, and Author known for hacking and assisting law enforcement officials, CB-CID Odisha to solve a number of complex crime cases and to fight against cyber criminals. Some of his notable hacks include hacking into various government websites and leaking confidential data publicly.
Early Life[edit]
At a young age, Samit became interested in computers. An early experience with hacking was at age 14 when he used to hack various network providers for free internet. Later his curiosity exposed him to various hacking communities and groups and he started defacing various country's websites with messages protesting government Activity. On most of the site, he included the line "Hacked By WeB DrAG0N or WeB DrAG0N Was Here"
Career[edit]
Initially, he started hacking as a hacktivist but later in 2018 he joined hands with Crime Branch Odisha to help Odisha Police fight against Cyber crimes and solve crime cases However he never made any public appearance until 2020 when he publicly posted his photo and revealed his face.
Post 2020 suddenly he started parting ways with all hacking groups or communities and instead started helping various high-profile corporate giants and government organizations secure their online infrastructure. Many say one main reason why Samit left was his increasing discord with various groups due to his uncontrollable cyberattacks, non-compliance with group rules, and getting involved with foreign groups and hacktivists. But some other says he left because he wanted to start an underground group UWH (United World Hackers).
However, he continued his new path of being a white-hat hacker and achieved tremendous success in the upcoming days. He honored by Cambridge University, Latvian Government, National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre, CERT-IN, Cert-Uk, Facebook Hall Of Fame, Twitter Hall Of Fame etc. Later he published a book "Cybersecurity Research and Defense: A Deep Dive into Modern Threats and Solutions"
