Career
Passionate about drawing and painting, he turned his attention to graphic art, which fetched him a job with Kairali TV in Kerala. Moving to Dubai to work with Asianet, he turned to editing – and that was the start of a journey that was truly unprecedented for this unassuming youngster from Tirur.
Alongside editing for television shows, he was occasionally called to do spot-editing for movies. Among the first movies he worked on was Ellam Avan Seyal, the Tamil remake of the Malayalam film Chinthamani Kolacase directed by Shaji Kailas.
Impressed by Samjith’s talent, Shaji Kailas roped him in for Red Chillies, starring Mohanlal. Samjith hasn’t looked back since, having already edited more than 33 films in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada and Bollywood. He has since associated with the big directors in Malayalam cinema, collaborating regularly with directors including Shaji Kailas, Rajasenan, Major Ravi, VM Vinu, Ranjan Pramod and Veteran Tamil Film Director K.S. Ravikumar.
He simultaneously worked on Tamil and Hindi film projects and worked on big budget films such as Lingaa (2014), Policegiri (2013). His notable films were Puthiya Mukham, Njan Ninnodu Koodeyundu, Kerala Cafe, and Rakshadhikari Baiju Oppu.
