Sammy Arechar is a stand-up comedian from Milwaukee.

Arechar gained notoriety in Milwaukee for his hi-jinks before ultimately moving to Chicago to further pursue comedy. He often caught the attention and imagination of The Shepherd Express and The Milwaukee Record.

Comedy[edit]

Sammy Arechar is known for his bizarre persona and odd fixations, most of which revolve around food as eclectic as chicken salad to zucchini. His career has also been largely pizza-based, being perhaps most well known for a popular riff on ordering pizza. According to Time Out Chicago, who named him as one of 5 comedians to watch,'"Arechar’s comedy is far from pedestrian; his signature bit involves beatboxing his way through a three-minute pizza order."[1]

Arechar at one point DJ'd for a zucchini festival in Hayward, California.'[2] He has also been known to throw annual "zucchini parties.

It should also be noted that Arechar sometimes performs under the stage name 'Yung Zucchini,' and performs several zucchini inspired songs.[3]

He featured as himself in the MTV program "Wonderland," where he rubbed shoulders with musician Lizzo. [4] He also starred in the film Pizza Night, directed by Aaron Fronk of FND Films.[5]

An essay, "A Stand-Up Walks into a Bar," by Arechar can be found in 'The Milwaukee Anthology,' by Justin Kern.[6]

Stand-up[edit]

Arechar has opened for an illustrious list of popular comedians during and after his time in Milwaukee, including Bob Odenkirk, T.J. Miller, Matt Braunger, Garfunkel and Oates, Johnny Pemberton, Josh Fadem, Moshe Kasher, and Ari Shaffir.[7]

On stage, Arechar has performed at the Milwaukee Comedy Festival, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, RIOT LA, and the Limestone Comedy Festival, as well as others.[8]

He was in Sexpot's Selfie Showcase for Sexpot Comedy.
