Samsung PowerBot
The Samsung PowerBot is a line of robot vacuum cleaners designed and manufactured by Samsung[1]
The Samsung PowerBot is the successor to the Samsung NaviBot, a previous generation of robot vacuums produced by samsung. The first generation of PowerBot was known as the VR9000 and the second generation known as the VR7000. Both variants of the PowerBot have several different models of each, with different features or power levels.[2]
History/release dates.
VR9000 history
The VR9000 was released in mid 2015 to replace the older NaviBot line of robots. WIth a new design and better technologies, the PowerBot was quite different from the previous line of robots. The VR9000 was quite bulky, being much taller that other robots, it also changed the suction system with a new Cyclone Force system that prevented the dustbin from clogging during cleaning.
VR7000 history
The VR7000 was released in 2017 to release the VR9000 series. this robot was redesigned to be slimmer and smaller, still using the Cyclone Force system found in previous generations. The VR7000 also had a new design with a more modern touch with new technologies such as edge clean master.
Features
VR9000
The VR9000 introduced many new features to the PowerBot. A list of which would be:
- Cyclone Force separation system[3]
- FullView Sensor Bar[3]
- Visionary Mapping Plus[3]
- Easy Pass Wheels[3]
- Point Cleaning[3]
- Recharge and Resume[3]
VR7000
In addition to the previous features, new features were added such as:
- CycloneForce[3]
- FullView Sensor Bar[3]
- Visionary Mapping Plus[3]
- Point Cleaning[3]
- Edge Clean Master.[3]
Cyclone Force
CycloneForce was developed by Samsung to prevent clogging of the dustbin with dust and hair during the cleaning session, preventing loss of suction power.
this works as the dust is brought into the spiral shape chamber. then it is spiraled around a center point where the dust is separate and ejected through the side of the spiral. The air and any dust still remaining passes through the middle point where it is passed through a filter and out an exhaust.
Full View Sensor Bar
The Full View Sensor Bar is located at the front of the robots. It is a wide panel which uses infrared sensors which can detect any objects in front of it to prevent it from bumping into any obstacles or walls too quickly. The VR7000 models use this system to scan for walls to press up against the wall to activate the Edge Clean Master system. The sensors also allow the robot to clean around table legs and against walls and corners.
Visionary Mapping Plus
Visionary Mapping Plus is a camera locating system which is used by the robot to map out the robots cleaning patterns and navigation. A camera is located on the top of the robot and it takes several pictures per second. The software creates an optimal pattern for cleaning. This mapping system helps the robot clean in straight lines and find its way back to the charge base, allowing for Recharge And Resume feature.
Easy Pass Wheels
Easy pass wheels are a feature exclusive to the VR9000 model robots. the wheels have a larger surface area and more suspension flexibility, allowing the robot to easily climb over different surfaces such as wood to carpet.
Point Clean
Point clean is a feature in some of the more premium models of the VR7000 and VR9000. The remote creates a red circle with a red square in the centre, which the robot follows. This allows the user to clean in a specific area easily using the laser guidance.
Recharge And Resume
This feature stems from the Visionary Mapping Plus system. As the robot maps the ceiling, it remembers where its charger dock is located as well as where it cleaned. If it has not finished cleaning an area, it goes back to its base and charges and continues cleaning after it has charged to an adequate level.
Edge Clean Master
The Edge Clean Master is an exclusive feature to the VR7000 robots. When the sensor bar detects a wall, it presses itself against the edge and it deploys a red squeegee like bar which scrapes away dirt and dust from the edge of a wall or corners.
Models
There are quite a few versions of each variant of the PowerBot.
