Sam (unofficially called Samantha Samsung by the internet) is a semi-official 3D modeled woman made by Lightfarm Studios, a subsidiary of Samsung made to be the mascot of Samsung, but it has not been used outside of Brazil. The images have since been deleted off their website. The character was first 2 dimensional but was made in 3D later as concept art. Although many people believed it was going to replace their current assistant, Bixby, Samsung had no plans of doing that. A Polygon reveals that Sam is not actually an official AI for Samsung and it is a part of a rejected and deleted project.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
Appearance[edit]
Sam is a young-looking woman with brown shoulder-length hair, blue eyes, and a black shirt with the Samsung Galaxy logo similar to the ones real Samsung employees wear. She uses Samsung products such as phones (specifically the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra), laptops, and tablets. She also has freckle-specked cheeks and an hour-glass figure.
Popularity[edit]
The character spread through the internet quickly. She has been taking off on the popular online form Reddit, Twitter, and the popular short video service TikTok. She has been described as a Persona character drawn in a Pixar-esque style. Most of the content was internet pornography (which the internet calls "rule 34") of the character, especially on the r/rule34 subreddit. A Twitter user described the timeframe between the creation and the first pornographic image of Samsung Sam as "5 picoseconds". Vylerrian, a Twitch streamer who cosplayed as various fictional characters, cosplayed as Samsung Sam.[9]
