Samuel Brooksworth (born Samuel Boateng; 23 September 1988) is an English businessman of Ghanaian descent[1], best known for competing on series 12 of BBC One’s The Apprentice[2].

Early life[edit]

Brooksworth, whose parents[3] emigrated from Ghana in the early 1980s, was born in 1988 in Lewisham, South London.[4]

Brooksworth's family moved to Bury[5], Greater Manchester, in 2000. Whilst in Bury, Brooksworth attended Castlebrook High School and Holy Cross Sixth Form College.[6]

Brooksworth left Bury to study Information Technology and Business Studies[7] at Sheffield Hallam University. [8]Whilst at the University, Brooksworth became a society President in his first year before becoming an Executive within the University's Union in his second year.[9]

Business[edit]

Whilst in Sheffield, Brooksworth began his career at Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Brooksworth eventually moved back to London[10] in 2013 and went on to work in various management roles[11] for London Business Conferences, Carcraft, Carrylift Group and Toyota were he was responsible for managing and generating new business for over 700 businesses.[12] In 2017 Brooksworth co-founded the company Build and Master, a learning platform which supports entrepreneurs in growing their businesses and helps professionals enhance their careers.[13]

The Apprentice[edit]

Brooksworth came to public attention when he participated in BBC One's The Apprentice 2016 hosted by Lord Sugar.[14] Brooksworth project managed a task in week 5 of the show leading the team to victory.[15] Brooksworth went on to reach week 7 of the show before being eliminated.[16]

Awards[edit]

Ghana UK Based Achievement (GUBA) Awards[edit]

Brooksworth was nominated for a Guba Award in 2017 in the 'Professional of the year' category[17] for his work and rise in management[18] through various companies.[19]

The Screen Nation Film & TV Awards[edit]

Brooksworth was also nominated for a Screen Nation Film & TV Award in 2017 in the 'Favourite Reality TV Talent' category.[20]
