Samuel Holland (born 5 August 1995) is the Australian TNL political candidate for the federal seat of Forde. Like others in his party, he subscribes to the theories of small ‘l’ liberalism and Modern Monetary Theory.

Early Life

Sam was born at the Logan Hospital in Meadowbrook, Queensland, and grew up in Yatala. Seeing as his mother, Michelle, was not given the opportunity to complete secondary education, she was adamant that he would complete secondary and tertiary education. As such, Sam was educated at Rivermount College and the Queensland Academy for Health Sciences, before completing both a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and a Bachelor of Science with first class honours in Biochemistry at the University of Queensland. He is also completing a PhD in the field of Genetics and Nephrology at the Institute for Molecular Biosciences.

In 2019, Sam met his partner during grand rounds at the PA Hospital and in November of 2020 he proposed to her. They are eager to be married but are waiting for it to be safe to do so to protect several immunocompromised members of his family.

Although Samuel’s primary fields of study are microbiology and biochemistry, he has also participated in research in many other fields, including entomology (2014-2015), Osteology (2016), and Science Education (2019).

Politics

Ever since he was a child, Sam has had an interest in politics. Although he had never intended to become a politician, he joined the Young Liberals at age 18 and subsequently left the group when the then Shadow Minister for Communications refused to shake his hand after a presentation in Armidale.

In response to what he considered to be a poor response from the government in regards to both the 2019 Black Summer Bushfires and Coronavirus Pandemic, he would later join the ALP. However, following a debate with party leader Victor Kline, Sam joined as the TNL candidate for Forde.
