Samuel Colin Evanson (born 21 May 1999), is a Welsh singer and songwriter.[1] His debut studio album titled We Are Meant To Break The Rules was released in June 2024.[2] It received rave reviews from press outlets such as Wonderland, Clash Magazine and Notion who describes Samuel as the one to watch in the indie pop world. Samuel has also won an International Music Video Award[3] for Best LGBT Music Video for his single ‘He Gave Me Nothing’ Samuel's music has been described as 'cutting edge' and 'entrancing' his single ‘All of a Sudden’ has featured in multiple Spotify editorial playlists which is a huge feat for new artists. Channelling the soaring energy of pop icons like Dua Lipa and Chappell Roan[4] as described by Notion in a recent article. Samuel Evanson’s indie-pop projects showcase his unique ability to blend introspective lyrics with engaging melodies, creating a fresh sound in the genre of pop.[5] Evanson continues to carve out his space as an emerging force within the indie-pop scene.[6]

Early Life

Samuel was born on 21 May 1999 in Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire and from a young age has always aspired to be a singer. Evanson's music career began back in 2016 when he released a cover song on Facebook which went viral overnight, the following year he performed live on BBC One and raised money for BBC Children In Need. After realising he had this talent he proceeded to enter competitions and won several local awards for various performances, he decided that's what he wanted to do or "at least give it a good go". When he moved to Liverpool in 2019 to pursue his music career the COVID pandemic hit and he was unable to fulfil his dreams and had to get a full time job to cover his bills, this is where he also discovered his love for acting and worked on several productions during this period.

Career

Samuel relocated from North Wales to Liverpool, England, in 2019 to begin his career in music but due to the pandemic he was unable to pursue this and had to gain full time employment to pay his bills and fund his dreams. He has since been working in television amongst other things and has recently returned to music, After his first album "We Are Meant To Break The Rules" Evanson followed a bout of sold out shows and gained the attention of press outlets such as Wonderland, Notion and Clash and has since received an International Music Video Award for “He Gave Me Nothing” the second single from his upcoming album “The Anatomy of Attraction” due to be released in late 2025.
