Samuel Olusegun Oladele (born 30 August 1955) is a Nigerian pastor, and the 8th President of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC Worldwide).

Early life

Pastor Samuel Olusegun Oladele was born on 30 August 1955 at about 9.50 am in the small village of Alagbagba in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State, Nigeria to Late Pa Gabriel and Madam Alice Oladele.[1], [2]

Education

Oladele attended CAC Primary School, Alagbagba and, at a very tender age of 14, entered into the ministry by training locally under the late Pastors J. B. Akande and J. O. Ogundiran respectively. He went to the CAC Bible Training College in Akure and graduated in 1974, having trained under late Mrs. O. O. A. Pearce and Pastor M. O. Faloye. Upon the completion of his studies, he was retained on the staff list of the CAC Bible Training College where he worked as a tutor until 1977 when he left Nigeria for the United Kingdom where he attended The International Bible Training Institute in Burgess-Hill, West Sussex.

He returned to Nigeria in 1980 to join The CAC Theological Seminary as a tutor until 1983 when he left for the United States of America.

While in the USA he trained further in the following schools:

  • Berean Bible College, San-Diego, California
  • St. Louis Christian College, Florissant, Missouri
  • International Bible Institute and Seminary in Plymouth, Florida where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Theology.
  • Haggai Institute for Advanced Leadership Training in Singapore.

Ministry

Pastor Oladele's Induction as The 8th President of CAC Worldwide

He began his field experience as an Assembly Pastor at CAC Oke Imole, Ijeshatedo under Itire District, Lagos. Pastor Oladele’s ministrations were (and still are) like a magnet that draws people to the Church. Attendance at the Church’s Bible Study and even the Sunday service was always full, because people wanted to hear Pastor Oladele expose the mysteries of the Bible. He was so much loved and admired that when the authorities of the Church decided to transfer him to Agbokojo, in Ibadan, all the leaders and even members of the Church at Ijeshatedo pleaded with the authorities to allow him to remain in Ijeshatedo for them to continue to enjoy the grace of God in his expository teaching method. Never a man to be disobedient to authority, he proceeded to follow the authority’s decision, by moving to Agbokojo, even when the Ibadan station was not as sophisticated as that of Lagos.

As an Assembly Pastor at CAC Agbokojo in Ibadan, Pastor Oladele’s Bible study classes on Wednesdays continued to draw people to the Church like a magnet. Since the CAC Sunday School Rally started under Late Pastor E. H. L. Olusheye, Pastor Oladele has always featured as a lecturer every year up till last year when he was appointed the President by the General Executive Council.

Pastor Oladele was promoted as a District Superintendent in November 1991 and was posted to CAC Sango District, also in Ibadan. He was transferred to CAC Oke Igbala District, Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State, a move many of his admirers saw as punitive. But he never allowed the circumstances of the transfer to dampen his spirit.

Commenting on that incident recently, he said every experience in life usually makes people to be either bitter or better. But for him, he has chosen to allow God to teach him to be better by any experience. So, rather than being bitter, he’s always finding a way to be better by such experience.

From Efon Alaye, he was transferred to CAC Eleta District, Ibadan. He was promoted as Assistant General Superintendent in 1996 and when the AGS, DGS titles were abrogated, he became a Chairman in 2002. He was transferred again to CAC Oke Ibukun, Oke Ado Districts Coordinating Council in 2004. He was in this position when he was appointed as the General Superintendent of Christ Apostolic Church, Worldwide in 2014.

Throughout the six years he spent as the Number Two Minister in Christ Apostolic Church, he cooperated with the Number One Minister. Like Aaron to Moses, he supported the Number One Minister in driving his reform agenda until his retirement in December 2020. Pastor Oladele’s stand on every issue has always been on the side of what does the Word of God say? Or what would Jesus have done if he were confronted with this situation?

His predecessor in office, Pastor Abraham Olukunle Akinosun once described him as a man without guile, a quintessential man of God, an astute Bible expositor.

The General Executive Council, the highest decision-making body of the Church approved the appointments of Pastor Oladele as President-designate at its meeting in Ikeji Arakeji on Thursday, October 15, 2020. He assumed office officially on 1 January 2021 and was formally inducted on 20 March 2021 at the Church Missionary Headquarters in Ibadan, Nigeria.[3] [4]
