Samuel Sostre is an Independent Anglican bishop with the Iglesia Anglicana Regina Apostolorum (Queen of the Apostles Anglican Church).
A 2012 biography on the website of Ecumenical Community Churches reads, "I was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico in 1944. As a young boy I became an acolyte at the Episcopal Church of my hometown. Later my family moved to a city without an Episcopal Church and I began to attend a Baptist Church. I became a Music Minister at that church, a position I held for ten years. At the same time I taught Sunday school, preached occasionally and helped plant a Baptist church. In 1970 I finished Medical School and did my specialty training at the University of California- Davis and then at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine where, sometime later, I became an Associate Professor of Radiology and Chief of Clinical Nuclear Medicine. After 38 years as a physician I was called again to the ministry. I obtained Master of Theology, Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees. Since then, we have planted a church in San Juan, Puerto Rico, “The United Church in Christ”, where I am the Senior Pastor, and have been ecclesiastically ordained by “The Association of General Six Principle Baptists” and by the “Corpus Christi Ecumenical Fellowship”, an Anglican Catholic Communion. I am also certified in Chaplaincy and serve as the Chief Evangelical Chaplain at the Metropolitan Hospital of San Juan. I have wanted to team up with Bishop David Strong to help him spread the Word of God and help promote the creation and growth of more affirming and inclusive churches because that is what the Word of God is constantly compelling us to do."
