Sanevber Hatun (1616 - 1617) was the concubine of Sultan Murad IV of the Ottoman Empire.[1]

Life[edit]

She was a girl raised by Kösem Sultan. She was given to the Sultan in 1628. She received the villa in Çukurhisar. After Murad's death he moved to the villa where she died.

Sanevber Haseki bore Sultan Murad IV[2] four children, three boys and one girl:

  • Şehzade Suleiman (2 February 1632 – 1635, buried in Ahmed I Mausoleum, Blue Mosque, Istanbul)
  • Şehzade Alaeddin (26 August 1635 – 1637, buried in Ahmed I Mausoleum, Blue Mosque, Istanbul)
  • Şehzade Selim (1637–1640, buried in Ahmed I Mausoleum, Blue Mosque, Istanbul).

girls:

  • Rukiye Sultan (died 1696, buried in Ahmed I Mausoleum, Blue Mosque, Istanbul) married firstly 1663, Şeytan Divrikli Ibrahim Pasha, Vizier, married secondly 1693 Gürcü Mehmed Pasha.

In popular culture[edit]

Sezgi Sena Akai plays the rolo of Sanevber in the Turkish TV series "Muhteşem yüzyıl Kösem"[3], but she is russian in the serie.
