Sandbagging (also known as bagging or item smuggling) is a strategy used in online Mario Kart races where a player intentionally stays in last place to get more powerful items (as they are more likely to appear in lower ranks).[1] The player then uses the items to catch up with other players. It is mainly used on specific courses due to how long items can be used, if activated in specific locations.[1]
