Sandra Thurman
Sandra Thurman currently serves as Senior Advisor to the Division of Global HIV and Tuberculosis at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Chief Strategy Officer at the Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator and Global Health Diplomacy at the U.S. Department of State.
She is also a Professor of Practice at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University and on the international steering committee at the Robert Carr Fund. Prior to that, she contributed in a variety of senior leadership positions at the Clinton White House as the first director of the Office of National AIDS Policy[2] at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health, and the Carter Center. She has appeared on panels as a subject matter expert[3] for three decades.
She earned her Master of Arts degree in Community Pastoral Care and HIV/AIDS from St. Paul’s University in Limuru, Kenya, following a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources Administration and Management from Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia.
