Sanjay Sen (Hindi: संजय सेन); is a senior advocate at the Supreme Court of India. Sen specializing in energy and regulatory laws.[1][2][3]

Early life and education[edit]

Sanjay Sen graduated in law (LLB) from Campus Law Centre, the University of Delhi. Post graduation, Sanjay joined the chamber of Mr. S. N. Mukherjee, Barrister at law and Senior Advocate. In 1993 Sanjay joined the University of Edinburgh for an LLM degree programme.[4] [5]

He is designated as Senior Advocate in February 2013 by the High Court of Orissa, Sanjay exited from his law firm and continued his independent counsel practice.[6][7]

Career[edit]

He has successfully led Maharashtra State Power Generation Company challenge before the Competition Commission against Coal India, for abuse of dominant position in matters of long-term fuel supply contracts.

He also successfully defended before the Supreme Court re-opening of contracts pr Power Purchase Agreements for an increase in tariff of Biomass Plants in Gujarat.[8][9][10][11]

He has also succeeded in representing before the Orissa High Court in a matter, quashing the Central Government’s notification that increased the boundary of Calcutta Port Trust resulting in Calcutta Port Trust exercising jurisdiction and control over certain the waters of ports located in the State of Odisha.[12][13][14][15][16]

He succeeded in defending Jindal Steel and Power distribution license before the Supreme Court for power supply to OP Jindal Industrial Park.[17][18][19]
