Sanjot Malhi is a technology investor and venture capitalist based in London. He is currently a General Partner at Northzone, a three decade old, multi-stage venture capital firm, where he leads the Growth fund for the firm globally..[1]
Early life
Born in India, Malhi grew up in The Hague, where his father was a diplomat for the United Nations [2]. He studied Electrical & Electronics Engineering at Birla Institute of Technology in Pilani, before going on to complete an MBA at Yale University in the USA[3]. At the time, he was the youngest person to be accepted onto Yale’s MBA program[4].
In 2008, he interned at the Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland as part of a think tank called the Evian Group[2]. Here, he authored a paper on ‘Challenges Behind Inclusive Growth’.[5]
Malhi played football at a national level, representing his state in the Santosh Trophy, India’s National Football Championship.[4] He also played cricket, captaining The Hague Cricket Club when he was growing up in the Netherlands.[6]
Career
In 2010, Malhi joined Bain & Company as a consultant.[2]
He then joined Matrix Partners as an investor, where he focused on venture and early-growth equity investments.[7]
He later joined Tybourne Capital, a hedge fund based across Hong Kong and the USA[8] which is one of the “second-generation Tiger cubs” founded by former employees of Julian Robertson’s Tiger Management.[9]
In 2023, he joined Northzone, a multi-stage venture capital firm[1], where he is now General Partner leading the firm’s growth stage investments globally. At Northzone, he led Blitzy’s $200 million Growth round, which valued the business at $1.4 billion[10]. He also led XBOW’s $120 million Series C round valuing the business at over $1 billion[11], as well as OpenFX’s $94M Series A[12], among other investments.
Malhi is a regular commentator on European technology, for outlets including CNBC[13], Sifted[14], and Reuters[15]
