Santosh vallury
Santosh Vallury (born August 1969) is an Indian teacher of Yoga, Sanskrit, and Advaita Vedanta. He has taught in both India and Brazil and is best known for mentoring Brazilian student Jonas Masetti, who has received national recognition for promoting Indian spiritual teachings abroad.[1]
Early life and career
Before turning to spiritual teaching, Santosh Vallury worked as a journalist with leading Indian publications. He later worked in advertising as a creative consultant for global agency **JWT (J. Walter Thompson)**.
Yoga training
Vallury completed his teacher's training at the The Yoga Institute in Santacruz, Mumbai, one of the oldest organized yoga schools in the world.[2] He assisted in therapeutic yoga camps and taught various students across Mumbai.
Vedanta studies
Vallury began his study of **Advaita Vedanta** through the Chinmaya Mission in Mumbai. From 2000, he deepened his study of Vedanta through renowned Vedanta teacher Swami Dayananda Saraswati, founder of Arsha Vidya Gurukulam.
Teaching in Brazil
From 2003 to 2004, Vallury lived in **Rio de Janeiro**, Brazil, where he taught **Yoga**, **Sanskrit**, and **Vedanta**. He initially began teaching at his residence and later co-established a study center with his first student, Jonas Masetti.[1]
Masetti, who later received the **Padma Shri** for his spiritual contributions, has publicly acknowledged Santosh as his foundational teacher.[1] He was also mentioned by Indian Prime Minister **Narendra Modi** in the *Mann Ki Baat* program, where Modi praised his efforts as a cultural ambassador of Indian philosophy.
To improve his communication with native Brazilians, Santosh studied Portuguese at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio).
Return to India
Since 2006, Santosh returned to India and lives in Mumbai. He continues his Vedantic studies under various traditional teachers. He currently shares his knowledge through lectures, and spiritual guidance online through his[3]channel and one-one personal sessions.
