Sapien Labs is a United States–based 501(c) (3) not for profit organization with a mission to understand and enable the human mind. The primary goal of Sapien Labs is to track the diversity and evolution of the brain and mind across the globe and to understand the interplay between life experiences, brain physiology and mental health and cognitive outcomes.[1][2]

Mental Health Million Project[edit]

The Mental Health Million project creates an evolving global map of mental wellbeing. It provides insight into social and environmental drivers, identifies at-risk geographies and demographics, and enables effective policy and intervention.[3]

Mental State of the World Report 2020[edit]

In March 2020, Sapien Labs released its first annual report as part of the Mental Health Million Project which tracks the evolving mental wellbeing of the world and factors that impact it. The report covered the mental wellbeing of countries during the year showing the population distribution from clinical to thriving, and reporting on functional dimensions of Mood & Outlook, Social Self, Drive & Motivation, Core Cognition, Complex Cognition and Mind- Body Connection.

Human Brain Diversity[edit]

The goal of the human brain diversity project is to shed light on the diversity of the human brain physiology, how it is influenced by the environment and in turn, how it informs cognitive and mental health outcomes.[4]
