Sarah Bireete

Sarah Bireete is a prominent Ugandan lawyer, human rights defender, and political activist. She has made significant contributions to the legal and human rights fields in Uganda and beyond.

Education

Sarah Bireete has an impressive academic background. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Humanities from the University of East London. Additionally, she earned a Master's degree in International Human Rights Law from the same institution. She also graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from Makerere University and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre. Her early education was at Bweranyangi Girls' Senior Secondary School.

Career

Bireete has held several key positions throughout her career. She served as a public defender and has been actively involved in election monitoring. Notably, she was elected chairperson of the East and Horn of Africa Election Observers Network. Currently, she serves as the executive director of the Center for Constitutional Governance (CCG), where she continues to advocate for constitutional governance and human rights.
