Sarah Burgoyne (born April 10, 1988) is an experimental Canadian poet.[1] Her first collection Saint Twin (Mansfield: 2016) was a finalist for the A.M. Klein Prize in Poetry (2016), awarded a prize from l'Académie de la vie littéraire (2017) and shortlisted for a Canadian ReLit Award.[2] She was nominated for the Montreal Poetry Prize in 2016 for her poem, "Story of a Leaf."[3] Her second collection, Because the Sun, which thinks with and against Albert Camus’ extensive notebooks and the iconic outlaw film Thelma & Louise, was published with Coach House Books in April 2021.[4] Other works have appeared in journals across Canada and the U.S., have been featured in scores by American composer J.P. Merz[5] and have appeared with or alongside the visual art of Susanna Barlow[6], Jamie Macaulay[7] and Joani Tremblay[8]. She currently lives and writes in Montréal/Tiohtià:ke.

Biography[edit]

Sarah Burgoyne was born in Vancouver, British Columbia and moved to Montreal, Quebec in 2012, after a year living in the small town of Princeton, British Columbia.[9] Her work is characterized by "out of the box, literary creativity"[10], bricolage and Oulipian-like language games.[11]
