Sarah Hester Ross (born October 7, 1985) is an American musical comedienne, singer-songwriter, and dueling piano performer in Las Vegas, Nevada.[1] She has a large presence on social media with millions of TikTok followers.[2] Her best-known comedic trends include “Stop Giving Men Microphones” and "Florida Man Friday."[3]  Ross considers herself a “piano-playing Bette Midler."[4]

Ross has been named “Best One Women Show” by Las Vegas Weekly[5] and “Best Comedian” by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.[6] She was featured on “America's Got Talent.” and "The Doctor Demento Show." [3]

Early Life and Career[edit]

Originally from Tampa, Florida, the daughter of a music teacher,[4] Ross has been performing onstage since the age of three.[7] She studied vocal performance in college and plays multiple instruments, most proficient on piano[5] and keytar.[1]

After college, Ross began working in musical theater. In 2010, she was sidelined by the formation of scar tissue on her vocal cords. After undergoing surgery and working through recovery, Ross moved into the world of dueling piano performance.[7]

In 2013, Ross landed the role of Jen in “The D* Word - A Musical,” written and produced by Jeanie Linders, the creator of “Menopause The Musical.” After a 6-week run in downtown Orlando,[8] the show went on a tour that included a 3-month stint in Las Vegas. At the conclusion of the tour, Ross opted to stay in Las Vegas, and resumed performing in piano bars.[9]

When the pandemic shuttered venues in 2020, Ross focused her energy on expanding her online presence.[10] One of her most successful efforts was the creation of "Florida Man Friday." Every Friday, Ross would run a Google search of "Florida Man" along with the current date. This would inevitably call up a current day news story detailing something crazy, and likely illegal, that someone in Florida had done. Ross would then post a video summarizing the article to the tune of "Potiphar" from the musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."[11] The videos were so popular, Ross expanded to posting twice a week by adding an additional segment called "Florida Woman Wednesday."[12]

Ross's online success led to a post-pandemic three-month Vegas residency and subsequent US tour. Ross’s comedy special “Don’t Mess with a Redhead,” a culmination of material from her residency and tour, was released on April 23, 2024.[10]

Ross has created a diverse catalog of songs, including originals like “Life Goes On” and “No Babies,” covers of “Savage Daughter” and “As the World Caves In” and parodies like “Piano Babe” and “All I Want for Christmas as a Jew.”

In 2023, Ross teamed up with internet personality Deanna Giulietti and released ten episodes of a podcast entitled “Too Much Find Less.”[13]

In August 2024, Ross brought her show “Sarah Hester Ross is What??” to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland.[7]

Ross has performed regularly at Bar at Times Square at the New York-New York Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas since 2019.[4]
