Sarah Keyenejad
Sarah Keyenejad, 19, who was six months pregnant, was shot to death at 12:48 a.m. Feb. 14, 1996, during the robbery of the 7-Eleven at 3501 E. Bonanza Road, Las Vegas, Nevada.[1] The bullet also struck and killed her unborn baby, who is listed in the police report as Victim #2 (fetus). The security camera showed two black males entering the store who were disguised in women's clothing. The suspects both displayed handguns, with suspect #1 holding what appears to be consistent with the size and shape of a 9mm gun known as a Tec-9. Suspect #2 also had a handgun. Sarah Keyenejad was sitting at one of the slot machine stools having a conversation with the store clerk, Justin Snyder, when the robbers entered the store. As suspect #1 exited the store, he turned without any interaction or warning and fired one shot at Sarah Keyenejad, killing both her and the unborn child.[2] Doctors determined that the baby would have survived the mother's death if not struck by the bullet, so the crime is charged as a double homicide.[3]
Local Las Vegas news media have termed the robbers "the drag queen killers."[4] Since Sarah Keyenejad's murder is an open and unsolved case, anyone with information is urged to call the Las Vegas Metro Police Department Homicide Section at 702-828-3521.[5]
