Early Life • Career • Personal Life :[edit]

Sarkar Musik is the stage name of Aaron Sarkar, a Detroit-based rapper, songwriter, music producer, music director, artist manager, record label owner, and community activist of Indian descent.

He began his music career at the age of 13 after being discovered by Lavel Jackson of legendary Motown Group The Dramatics.  

He is known for his singles “Red Bull”, “Won’t Stop”, “Shanivaar” and “Love Asylum” featuring Bizzy Bone, Jadakiss, and Indian fashion icon Zuchobeni Tungoe  respectively.  Sarkar Musik also received co-signs from Sean Paul, Styles P, Swizz Beatz, Zayn,  Drumma Boy, Christina Milian and more. He’s recognized for producing “Find My Way” by Megan Rakesh which he produced along side billboard charting producer Jaicko Lawrence and Grammy nominated songwriter Shontelle, and for writing “No More Crying” by blues legend Larry McCray which was produced by Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith.  

Sarkar Musik is a music director for films and tv shows and is currently working as lead music director for Danny Trejo Film “One Reckless Weekend”, and Ricky Burchell film “Trap City” starring Brandon T. Jackson, and Clifton Powell  in which he directed Jeezy, Project Pat, Omar Gooding, G.V Prakash Kumar, Sa-Rock, Brandon T. Jackson, Swifty McVay of D-12 and many more. He’s also Music Director for a pre-production NetFlix Original TV show created by Jenji Kohan and co-starring Sabrina Carpenter.

Sarkar Musik is CEO of record label Hazarika House.  He created his label to focus on developing the careers of 10 year old recording artist and social media sensation Megan Rakesh, and Kolkata's Awessum Frankie who made streetstyle rap popular in Kolkata.  He’s also continuing to grow his own career as a solo artist.  

Sarkar Musik is the son of Pritish Sarkar and Alice Anne Louchart Sarkar.  He was raised primarily by his single mother in Saginaw, Michigan a city notorious for violent crime.  Although he and his mother lived well below the poverty line he acknowledges his struggles as the fuel that made him who he is today.  

He attended Temple University on scholarship and graduated with his degree in Mathematical Economics. He worked for The Vanguard Group after graduating.  

Sarkar Musik is an active community leader.

He was awarded the Game Changer Award by the NBA and the Philadelphia 76ers for innovative leadership.  He received this award for directing Hip Hop Heritage, a program that’s changed the lives of thousands of high schoolers in the city of Philadelphia.

He’s an advocate for suicide awareness having lost his brother Suju Sarkar and two closest friends to suicide.

During the Covid 19 Pandemic Sarkar Musik and Grammy nominated artist Shontelle teamed up to help people impacted by the pandemic in India. Sarkar Musik also hosted a benefit concert with blues legend Larry McCray in which proceeds were given to people facing hunger caused by joblessness due to the Covid 19 Pandemic.

Sarkar Musik is the host of the Sarkarstic Live Podcast where he discusses social and cultural issues and has recurring special guests including Murphy Lee of the St. Lunatics, Omar Gooding, Kareem Grimes, Jon Connor, LFO, Shontelle, David Jassy, and Chris Conway to name a few.
