Sawanpreet Kaur Rupowali aka Sawan Rupowali is an Indian actress who predominantly works in Punjabi Cinema. She is known for playing the lead role in Ammy Virk starring sports-drama film Harjeeta in 2018. She has also worked in films like Saab Bahadar, Jaddi Sardar, Sikander 2, and Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui.
Early life
Sawan Rupowali was born on 7 August 1995 in her native village Rupowali Amritsar. Her father, Inderjit Rupowali, is an employee in the Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala. Sawan Rupowali's family lives in Kapurthala and is associated with theatre. Her mother's name is Sarabjit Kaur and her two younger sisters are Jasmine Rupowali and Anmol Rupowali. Sawan Rupowali has completed her studies up to class 12th from the Kendriya Vidyalaya located inside the Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala. After that, she pursued higher studies at Sri Amritsar Sahib BBKDAV College for Girls, where she continued her journey on the stage and won the title of Best Actor twice by participating in the youth festivals of the college. While studying in Amritsar, she also worked with famous Punjabi and Shiromani dramatist Kewal Dhaliwal. During her studies, she played a small role in the film Saab Bahadar in 2017 to try her luck in Punjabi films, after which she was encouraged to play the role of an actress in the film Harjeeta in 2018 and from here Sawan Rupowali's film journey began.
Career
Sawan began her acting debut with the thriller film Saab Bahadar in 2017. It is based on a police officer in a small town who investigated the killing of an eminent citizen. The next year, she featured in the drama-sport movie Harjeeta in 2018. In 2019, she played the role of Kiran in the drama movie Sikander 2. In the same year, she acted in the movie Jaddi Sardar as Roop. She appeared in the 2019 comedy movie Unni Ikki as Saanjh. In 2021 she acted in a Bollywood Movie, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui.
