Diamonté Harper (born July 3, 1993)[2], better known as Saweetie is a American rapper, songwriter, actress, designer and media personality with a debut single titled "Icy Grl." The Poster Child-directed music video for the song was watched 3.5 million times on YouTube in 3 weeks and earned praise from Vibe Magazine, XXL, HipHopDX, and MTV UK as an artist to watch in 2018. Her hit song Icy Girl was also listed on Complex 10 Dope Songs You Should Be Hearing.[3]
Early life[edit]
Saweetie was born in Santa Clara, but relocated to Sacramento where she completed high school.[4] Her mom is Filipino and Chinese and her dad is African American.[1][5] Her mom first had her when she was 17.[4] She grew up in Hayward in an apartment complex in the bay area.[4] Her grandmother gave her the nickname of Saweetie. She has twin sisters named Maya and Milan. While in middle school her and her friends would joined in talent shows.[4] She grew up going back and forth to her parents house she stayed with hear grandmother for a few years and lived in different places a lot.[4][2] She attended San Diego State and USC[1]for a communications degree with business and graduated with a 3.6 GPA.[4]

In an interview with Vibe Saweetie been writing since she was 14, and doing poetry at her school. But when Nicki Minaj came out, she became in loved with her. she stated, "I thought I could write poetry I could write raps, and that’s really how I transitioned into making music".[4] Saweetie was better known for her "car raps" on Instagram. She did a freestyle over Khia song "My Neck, My Back" beat and she took off with that.[4] She used to record raps on her phone and send them to her friends. She recorded 'Icy Girl' to one her friends and she liked it. She didn’t think that much of it when she recorded it but she was really messing with it. After she made a video for it, it really took off. She wrote that rap on her mattress in her room sitting on the floor. [6] sweetie is getting ready to release her debut EP entitled "High Maintenance".’ She did a couple of other covers and feel like that’s her way of expressing herself. She is now working with Zaytoven and AG.[7]
Business career[edit]
Saweetie is the CEO & founder of Money Makin' Mami.[8] It started as a t-shirt line and then later evolved into much more than that. Recently, Saweetie released a line of {Money Makin' Mami & The Money Club} dad hats. Upon, the success of Money Makin Mami she plans on opening a nail salon.[8]

Saweetie stated she grew up listening to a lot of 2Pac and a lot of East Coast, West Coast rap such as Bad Boy, Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, Notorious B.I.G. and 2Pac.[6]
Musical style[edit]
Saweetie describe her music very honest. She stated she can rap about her self, and not in a narcissistic way.[6] She feel like a lot of young adults can relate to her. She get compared to Kim, Foxy and Eve.[6]
