Sayanim (Mossad)
Sayanim, (Hebrew: סייענים, lit. Helpers, Assistants)[1] singular Sayan, are Jews located in the diaspora who assist Mossad agents in their operations.
Background[edit]
The concept of Sayanim was started by Meir Amit.[2] They are recruited by Mossad katsas or field intelligence agents to provide logistical support for Mossad operations.[3] Sayanim are often non-Israeli citizens but have full loyalty to the state of Israel and can be a dual national.[4][5] The usage of sayanim allows the Mossad to operate with a slim budget yet conduct vast operations worldwide.[6] The support that sayanim provide is unpaid.[7]
