ScaleFocus AD (Скейл Фокус АД) is a Bulgarian technology company that provides software development services and consulting in the telecom, insurance, fintech, healthcare, e-commerce, automotive, aviation and many other industries. The company was founded in 2012 and is headquartered in Sofia, Bulgaria. Today it has six delivery offices in Bulgaria: two in Sofia, one in Plovdiv, one in Varna, one in Burgas, and the last one in Skopje. In 2018, ScaleFocus acquired the Google Certified Agency Upnetix, previously known as Imperia Online JSC. The company has obtained four ISO certifications for Quality Management, Information Security Management, IT Service Management, and Environment Management.

ScaleFocus is a Silver SAP Partner since 2015. In 2018, the company became part of the ELITE Growth program, powered by the London Stock Exchange. The organization has established partnerships with Microsoft, Oracle, Alibaba Cloud, IBM and Amazon Web Services and TIBCO. ScaleFocus is a member of the Bulgarian Outsourcing Association (BOA), the Bulgarian Association of Software Companies (BASSCOM), the ICT Clusters in Plovdiv and Burgas, the Bulgarian Swiss Chamber of Commerce, the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria and the German Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria.

History

ScaleFocus was founded in 2012 by Plamen Tsekov, Viktor Bilyanski, Ivan Ashminov, and Ivailo Guenov. Initially focused on providing outsourced software development and consulting services for foreign companies, the company shifted its direction and built vast expertise and vertical knowledge in Telco, Finance, Banking, Education, Logistics, Insurance, Healthcare, Government, and other industries. Through the years, ScaleFocus implemented IT solutions and provided technical consultancy to more than 200 customers across the globe.

Innovation

ScaleFocus hosted two Innovation Challenges within the company. The winner from the 2017 edition of the Innovation Challenge was SoundVision, which is currently a patent-pending technology. In 2018, the company organized a Robotics Challenge

ScaleCamp

On October 1^st 2018, ScaleFocus launched the first ScaleCamp for Java and SAP ABAP development. This was the first SAP ABAP camp in Bulgaria. 24 people were selected for the training program, which had a length of six months in total. The program consisted of two modules. In module 1 (2 months), participants were engaged with the theoretical preparation, technical tasks, demo project and exam. Module 2 consisted of taking part in a real project. The company has announced it will continue to have ScaleCamps on different technical topics.

In 2019 the ScaleCamp initiative grew into ScaleFocus Academy. With this initiative, the company aims to train 10 000 people across Bulgaria and prepare them to meet the latest standards in the IT industry for free. The company aims to train the students in a real work environment. According to the report of the Bulgarian Outsourcing Association from 2018, 67 300 people are employed in the IT and BPO sectors in Bulgaria, and by the end of 2020 the industry will need approximately 79,000 people. The Academy will work with local schools, universities, and organizations to spark interest in IT and build the right model for employees’ development.

The company growth was natural. They hire constantly new talents, acquired Upnetix (a full range of software development and IT consultancy company) and acquired 40 talented professionals from Centroida.
