Schulamith Chava Halevy (born in 1955) is an Israeli poet and researcher of surviving heritage of the descendants of the forced converts of the Iberian peninsula, called anusim.

Halevy was born in 1955 in Lucerne, Switzerland to Dr. Uri Levy (of the Jerusalem Sephardim), a pediatrician, and Chana Mayer (Swiss Ashkenazic). Her family moved to Israel in 1960, and she grew up in Poria Illit.[1][2][3]:58

As a teenager, Halevy taught in Amalia, Evelina de Rothschild and Havat Hashomer secondary schools. She served as a volunteer at Haddasah and Shaare Zedek hospitals in Jerusalem. She studied Bible at the Michlalah Jerusalem College, and received her Masters in history from the University of Illinois[4] and her doctorate in Jewish history from the Hebrew University in 2010.[5]

Halevy served as an adjunct professor at Spertus Institute.[4] She has written widely on the anusim,[6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13] and contributed substantially to the translation of the prayers collected by Samuel Schwarz from Portuguese to Hebrew.[14] She was interviewed in a three-part series on the subject by Kol Israel.[15][16][17]

Halevy has published three books of poetry in Hebrew.[18][19][20] Her poetry has been anthologized.[21][22] She is the recipient of awards from the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture,[23] the Rabinovich Foundation for the Arts (Tel Aviv),[19]:4 the Or Prize,[3]:52 and the Council of the Sephardi and Oriental Communities of Jerusalem.[3]:52

She is married to Nachum Dershowitz.
