The Scientific Academy for Service Technology e.V., ServTech, is a non-profit research and consulting network based in Potsdam, Germany.

Objectives and Focus[edit]

ServTech promotes research, development, application and qualification for the scientifically sound design and integration of socio-technical systems. Its research focuses on service-oriented computing, cloud computing, smart data and application services. Together with partners such as Airbus Industries, Fiat, Intrasoft and Software AG, ServTech was instrumental in the following projects:

  • the FP7 project "IMAGINE"[1] (Innovative End-to-end Management of Dynamic Manufacturing Networks, 2011-2014)
  • the Horizon 2020 project "ICP4Life"[2] (An Integrated Platform for Managing the Product-Service Lifecycle) which was successfully completed at the end of 2018.

The results of these activities are disseminated in lectures, scientific publications, conferences, and workshops.

History[edit]

ServTech was founded in 2007 by leading experts from industry and academia dedicated to supporting innovation, research and progress in the field of Service-Oriented Computing (SOC). Since 2007, ServTech has also been the main sponsor of the annual International Conference on Service Oriented Computing (ICSOC), which takes place alternately in Europe, America and Asia including the Pacific Rim.

Promoting young talent[edit]

ServTech annually presents the "Best Paper Research Award" for the best scientific contribution to ICSOC, the "Young Researcher Award" for the best young researcher paper at the Symposium and Summer School on Service-Oriented Computing[3] and an award for the "Best Student Paper" at the China National Conference on Service Computing.
