PT Scooter Victory Inter Part or known as Scooter VIP is an e-commerce company for scooter products headquartered in Bekasi, Indonesia and is the sole distributor of the Polini and Malossi brand in Indonesia.[1] Scooter VIP was founded on 8 September 2011 by a scooter product lover, Dennil S. Scooter VIP markets its products through e-commerce sites and marketplaces and has been officially registered in the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology of the Republic of Indonesia[2] as a form of security guarantee to consumers when making electronic transactions.

History[edit]

Start of business[edit]

The Scooter VIP business starts from the love of its founder, Dennil S, for scooters especially Piaggio and Vespa. He decided to buy a new cream colored Vespa LX150ie in June 2011. In order to take care of his beloved new Vespa so as not to get scratched, he intended to buy accessories of his Vespa on the internet. However, after searching for some time on the internet, he also did not find any seller of the accessories for his type of Vespa, until finally a friend gave information that the closest seller of the Vespa LX accessories was in Vietnam.

He decided to fly to Vietnam with his wife in order to get the desired accessories, assisted by a good friend who lives in Vietnam. Not enough to just buy accessories for his personal Vespa needs, he saw a business opportunity and decided to buy more and resell it in Indonesia. Arriving in Indonesia, he advertised these accessories through a forum on the internet in August 2011. Unexpectedly, there were a lot of accessories orders through the forum. The business was officially run under the name Scooter VIP on 8 September 2011. At the beginning of his business, he flew to Vietnam once in every two weeks in order to fulfill customer orders. At that time, he rented a house as a warehouse for storing goods ordered by customers. Three months later, the business began to stabilize and ordered goods began to be shipped through cargo so that he and his wife could focus on running the business in Indonesia.

Becoming a distributor[edit]

As the business running on, he found a problem on his own Vespa. He felt a little less comfortable when riding it. Through the foreign Vespa forum, he sought information in accordance with the symptoms he felt in his Vespa. Finally, he found out that some of his Vespa components were in trouble and needed to be replaced with an Italian component, the Polini Motori S.p.A and Malossi S.p.A brand. He decided to directly contact the Italian company to purchase the components while at the same time applying to become a distributor in Indonesia for both brands. Italy welcomed the initiative as Indonesia is the second largest country for Vespa users in the world after Italy.[3] Besides Italy, he also bought accessories from (Germany). The need for Vespa components and accessories then began to be worked on to answer market needs in Indonesia.

In 2012, he began marketing the Scooter VIP business by opening booths at automotive events such as Otobursa Tumplek Blek and others. The Scooter VIP business is progressing and developing in 2013, so he decided to leave for Italy and (Germany) and discuss with suppliers of accessories and scooter parts about future business prospects. He discussed plans to research the development of new components for the scooter market in Indonesia with Polini Motori S.p.A and Malossi S.p.A, not only for Vespa and Piaggio, but also for other manufacturer brands such as Honda, Yamaha, Peugeot and Suzuki. The research was carried out by the Scooter VIP technical team with the Polini Motori S.p.A Research and Development team and separately with the Malossi S.p.A Research and Development team as well. Based on the results of the research conducted in mid 2013, the Italians agreed to work on the Indonesian market and even intended to focus on developing this project exclusively with Scooter VIP. Finally in 2015, Scooter VIP was appointed as the sole distributor for the components of Polini Motori S.p.A and Malossi S.p.A brands for the Indonesian market.

Opening an office[edit]

With the increasing demand for Vespa components, he finally opened an office in December 2015 under the name PT Scooter Victory Inter Part (Scooter VIP) in Bekasi. Research and development of Vespa components kept running. Italian Polini collaborated with Indonesian Polini, represented by Scooter VIP, in developing racing components. Saimon Polini, CEO of Italian Polini, took time to come to Indonesia at the 2016 Indonesia Scooter Championship (ISC)[4] to watch scooter racing while introducing the newly developed racing component in Italy.[5]
