Douglas Scott Cain (born November 15, 1966) is an American politician who has been the Mayor of Cleburne since 2012.
Early life and education
Scott Cain was born on November 15, 1966.[1] Cain graduated from Cleburne High School in 1985. He got his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Criswell College in 1989.[2][3] He had received Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, from the Texas A&M School of Law in 1999.[3]
Political Career
In 2004, He ran for Texas's 58th State Representative district. He had served on several local charities and universities in Cleburne and throughout Johnson County, and he was a past state amateur wakeboarding champion.[3] In 2012, Scott Cain ran unopposed in the mayoral election of Cleburne, leading him to win the mayoral election[4]. He has been serving that role since 2012.[2][3] He served as Cleburne's longest-serving mayor for 14 years. On August 1, 2025, Cain announced not to run for re-election in 2026.[5]
Personal Life
Scott Cain has 2 children. He is currently married to Chris Cain. Scott Cain is the current managing partner of the law firm Cain & Kiel, which focuses on real estate, probate, estate planning, corporate transactional, and litigation matters.[3] He had successfully handled under 100 jury trials and many appeals across Texas.[3]
