Scott Tannen (born 26 November 1977) is an American entrepreneur and radio personality, who founded the bedding company Boll & Branch in 2014 and is the Managing Partner of early-stage investment fund red5 Capital.

Early life[edit]

Tannen was raised in Bernardsville, New Jersey, the son of former Adidas Chief Executive, Stephen D. Tannen.[1], and real estate entrepreneur Ann Tannen. He graduated from the Morristown-Beard School in 1995 and went on to attend Vanderbilt University, where he graduated in 1999 along with his wife and Boll & Branch co-founder, Missy.[2]

Career[edit]

Tannen began his career in marketing at Nabisco, which was acquired by Kraft Foods in 2001, where he became the company's first head of Digital marketing and e-commerce. In 2005, he joined the Wrigley Company as Director and head of the company's newly created Global Digital marketing organization.

In 2008, Tannen departed Wrigley to join James Baker in the founding of Funtank a casual game publisher, on the heels of the new company's acquisition of Candystand from Wrigley.[3] In December 2010, Tannen and Baker sold Funtank to Publishers Clearing House for an undisclosed sum.[4]

In January 2014, Tannen founded Boll & Branch with his wife.[5] In August of 2019, Boll & Branch announced it had received a $100 Million investment from private-equity firm L Catterton at which time it was announced that Tannen will remain a Director and the Company's Chief Executive Officer.[6]

Accolades[edit]

He has received numerous awards for marketing and advertising excellence including 2 Clio Awards, a Webby Award, and several Cannes_Lions_International_Festival_of_Creativity awards for advertising work on Altoids. In 2007, Tannen was named EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year in New Jersey and was a top-3 Finalist for the Natural Entrepreneur of the Year award.[7]
