Screen Gaming Room

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

A screen gaming room is a place where people go to enjoy sports or games on a graphically or photographically simulated screen, usually indoors. Simulators for sports, games and etc. are arranged, and they have big screens that catch one's motions.

History[edit]

The arcade market that was active until the 2000s started to shrink due to the explosive growth of online and mobile games. This reduced the space needed for people to enjoy their leisure time. Consequently, the sports market was also affected. Sports simulators began to appear due to the advent of technology and changes in peoples' hobbies. Screen games became a new way to enjoy leisure, and screen gaming centers began to form. Screen gaming rooms began to appear on the streets of Korea, and nowadays they are loved by many people.[1]

Technology[edit]

Baseball[edit]

It measures the speed and location of pitches and pitches through the wide range of sensors and provides a way to increase visual effects in conjunction with virtual graphics. If the ball is typed into a hitter and the pitcher pitches in, the pitcher performs the ball at a certain distance and determines the velocity of the ball by tracking the ball speed and location of the ball through the optical sensors installed in the estimated track of the ball.

In the batting practice system, it shows the screen of the ball at the front and throws the ball through the mechanical device. When the batter hits the ball, the system identifies the direction of the ball by observing it in the lighted area and showing similar simulated screens for the player to see. The most important focus of this batting simulation is to measure the ball restraint and judge whether it’s a strike, and to link the graphical display according to the position of the all after batting.

The configuration of the current sensor collects the position and time information of the ball moving through the four curtains installed in the helmet and batting space, as shown in the picture. Sensor configuration in baseball simulation

When passing through a certain space between the windings, the speed of the helmet can be measured by dividing the interval of the windings by the sensor operation time difference.

Shooting[edit]

the Indoor Shooting System used for Shooting Simulation The indoor screen shooting system consists of a dedicated firearm, a target recognition unit that recognizes the laser at high speed, and a graphic engine that recognizes the hit of the target and displays the image on the screen. The picture on the right shows the configuration of the indoor shooting system, which is divided into a gun control unit, an invisible laser recognition unit, and a graphic engine that provides 2D and 3D images on the screen.

Indoor screen shots can not use actual bullets, so lasers that are invisible to the human being are used when aiming at the target. A non-visible laser camera capable of capturing lasers receives an analog image, and converts it to a digital image. The frame grabber board receives a non-gray screen image. When the trigger motion information is received from the I/O board of the gun, the current laser coordinate information is transmitted to the graphic engine. Here it determines whether the target was hit successfully. [3]

Sports[edit]

Baseball[edit]

Baseball has been a branch of sports enjoyed indoors for a long time. In the past, people enjoyed baseball indoors by using a pitching machine, but it was hard for people to know how far their hit would go on-field. Baseball in screen gaming rooms improved this aspect by using multiple cameras and sensors. By calculating the speed and angle of the ball, it became possible for people to know how far their hits would go in real-life, thus making in-door baseball more realistic.

Soccer[edit]

Soccer is nearly impossible to realize indoors, due to its characteristics as a team sport. Hence, soccer in screen gaming rooms are primitive compared to the sport played outside; the player takes a penalty kick in front of the screen where there is a goalpost and a goalkeeper. The game rules are in accord with the standard penalty shootout.

Golf[edit]

Golf takes up a big proportion in the market of screen gaming, especially in South Korea, where its small land makes it hard for actual golf courses to be made. It is very popular compared to other screen gaming sports because it is very cheap compared to actual golfing, isn't dependent on climate or time, is much easier to visit than real golf courses, and because the intervals between each swing are much shorter.[4]

The screen golf industry is continuously growing exponentially not only in size but also in number of users. One of Korea's screen golf industries, Golfzon, reported that they had exceeded more than 2 million users(July, 2017).[5]

Screen shooting is the best alternative to taste a charm of shooting, using air guns.

Shooting[edit]

Shooting has being noticed as a screen sport for the next generation. Especially in China, where there are many people who love shooting, screen shooting is becoming popular. Also, in Korea, where weapons and ammunition are thoroughly managed, it is considered to be the best alternative to taste a charm of shooting.

The design of guns the is the form of an air gun. You can pull the trigger if you want to hit the target. There are two game modes that you can select : hunting or shooting. If you want to hunt, you can choose various maps depending on your level. You can also play target shoots, clay shoots, etc.[6]

Screen Tennis

Tennis[edit]

Screen tennis is a system where we can hit a ball in the same way as reality in a small space worth about 15 square meters, and makes users feel like they are really playing tennis outdoors by showing the directions and distances of the ball they hit using virtual simulation. Also, users can practice their swings more than when they take personal lessons.

When users enter, they have to wear clothes and shoes, provided from the counter. Only half of a tennis court is in each room and the other half is shown on the screen. There is an employee beside you, who has a leader certification, who can teach you or help you during the play.[7][8]

Screen Horse Riding

Horse - Riding[edit]

Horse - riding was treated more aristocratic than golf. To ride a real horse, we have to pay an average hundred dollars to ride a horse just once, which is pretty expensive. Furthermore, there aren’t many horse - riding courses around our living environments. Screen horse-riding solved this.

The horse model is about 2m high from the ground. When you step on a foothold, get up on horseback, and step on stirrups, you just have to strike the button on the lower abdomen of the horse like spurring for speeding, or pull the reins with both hands for retardation.[9]
