Scrunch, also referred to as Scrunch AI, is an American software company that develops tools for analyzing and optimizing how brands appear in artificial intelligence platforms, known as generative engine optimization.
The company is headquartered in Salt Lake City.[1]
History
Scrunch was founded in 2023 by CEO Chris Andrew and CTO Robert MacCloy, both former executives at Hearsay Systems.[2]
The company emerged from stealth in 2024 and publicly launched its platform later that year following a beta period.[2]
In March 2025, Scrunch announced a $4 million seed funding round.[3]
In August 2025, Scrunch was named one of the “7 hottest startups shaping the future of AI search optimization” by AdWeek.[4]
In July 2025, the company raised a $15 million Series A round led by Decibel, with participation from Mayfield and Homebrew.[5][6]
Product
Scrunch was described by Fast Company as specializing in “placement in AI search.”[7] The company also creates parallel versions of websites, designed to be read by AI agents.[8]
