Search Sean Behrens on Amazon.Sean Behrens is an American ice hockey defenseman for the University of Denver of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC). He was selected 61st overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the second round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.[1]

Playing Career

Behrens played junior hockey with the Chicago Mission AAA in the High Performance Hockey League (NHPL). In 2019–20, Behrens joined USA Hockey's National Team Development Program in the USHL and played for the U18 team. In 2021, Behrens played for the United States team at the IIHF U18 World Junior Championships as an alternate captain. While at the tournament, he had 1 goal and 3 assists in 4 games.

In 2021–22, Behrens attended the University of Denver to play for their ice hockey team. In his freshman year, he notched 3 goals and 26 assists to finish ninth overall on the team in points. Throughout his successful freshman season, he was also named to the All-Tournament Team for the 2022 NCAA West Region and tied a conference record for longest point streak by a freshman defenseman at 8.[2]

On April 9th, 2022, Behrens won the 2022 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament with the Denver Pioneers, helping secure the school's ninth national title with the 5–1 victory over Minnesota State.[3] In July 2022, Behrens attended the Colorado Avalanche's NHL Development Camp. Later that month, he also attended USA Hockey’s National Junior Evaluation Camp and was named to the United States' roster for the 2022 IIHF World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.[4] He made his tournament debut on August 11th, 2022 in a 7–1 win against Switzerland.[5]
