Sebastian Uchitel is an Argentine computer scientist. He is a professor at the University of Buenos Aires and member of the National Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences. He has been distinguished by the ACM[1], the Argentine Ministry of Science[2], and others for his contributions to software modelling[3].
Early life and education
He received his degree in Computer Science from University of Buenos Aires and his Ph.D. from Imperial College London.
Career
Having completed his education in Argentina and the UK, Uchitel accepted a position at Imperial College London where he was awarded a €1.2 million ERC StG Award for his project Foundations for Incremental and Iterative Model-Based Software Engineering [4].
He later returned to Argentina to work at University of Buenos Aires where he set up the Laboratory on Foundations and Tools for Software Engineering[5], founded the CONICET Computer Science Institute (ICC)[6] and the University of Buenos Aires/CONICET Data Science Institute (CID)[7]. He served on the board of Communications of the ACM [8] and as the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering [9] and was elected as a member of the Argentine National Academy of Exact, Physics and Natural Sciences in 2020[10].
