Sellama Nadifi is a Moroccan geneticist, academic, and Professor of Higher Education at Hassan II University of Casablanca..[1] She specializes in medical genetics and molecular biology and is known for her contributions to the development of human genetics research and training in Morocco. She is the head of the Laboratory of Genetics and Molecular Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Casablanca and has been involved in advancing molecular genetics infrastructure and education in the country.[2]
Education
Sellama Nadifi obtained a Doctorate of Medicine from Mohammed V University. She later earned a Master’s degree in Applied Biology and Genetics, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma of Advanced Studies in Human Genetics, from Paris Diderot University. She subsequently completed a Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology at University of Fez.[3]
Career
Sellama Nadifi is a Moroccan geneticist and professor of higher education at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hassan II University of Casablanca[4], where she served from 1996 to 2019. Her academic work has focused on medical genetics, molecular pathology, and human genetics research in Morocco.
she worked at the Institut Pasteur du Maroc, she served as Head of the Research Department from 1994 to 1999. She also worked at the National Blood Transfusion Center in Rabat from 1983 to 1994 and was affiliated with the Institut Cochin de Pathologie Moléculaire in Paris between 1986 and 1990[5].
From 2006 to 2019, Nadifi was Director of the Laboratory of Genetics and Molecular Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Casablanca. She also served as Director of the Doctoral Training Center in Health Sciences from 2008 to 2019, where she supervised postgraduate research and academic training in biomedical sciences[6].
Her research has focused on hereditary diseases, cancer genetics, cardiovascular genetics, neurogenetics, and molecular diagnostics, with particular attention to Moroccan populations. She has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed studies on BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations, breast cancer susceptibility, ischemic stroke genetics, and inherited metabolic disorders.
