Selva Pankayachelvan is a British businessman, educator and co-chief executive officer of Regent Global, an education and investment organisation.[1][2][3]

Early life and education

Pankayachelvan arrived in the United Kingdom in 1990 at the age of 19 as a refugee from Sri Lanka. He initially studied chartered accountancy and later attended executive education programmes at London Business School, Harvard Business School, Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford, and Stanford Graduate School of Business.[4][5]

Career

Pankayachelvan worked for about a decade in senior roles at financial and investment institutions including Prudential Financial Inc., Fortress Investment Group, Schroders, and Grosvenor. In 1999, he began offering private tuition, which led to the founding of Regent Independent College with his wife, Tharshiny Pankaj, and his late father. By 2009, he had transitioned from investment banking to serve as chief executive officer of Regent Global, a position he currently shares with Tharshiny Pankaj.[6][7][8]

He has been awarded three honorary doctorates for his contributions to education in the UK and USA, and Regent European University (REU) has awarded him the title of Honorary Professor.[9]

In 2024, he was appointed chair of the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Sustainability 70 Steering Group. He is also involved with the Founder's 100 Campaign, the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, the Prince's Trust, the British Asian Trust, the Regent Global Unity Forum, and the Esharelife Foundation.[10]

His company, Regent Global is an educational organisation based in London that provides skills, training development and consulting to the private and public sectors.[11][12]
