The Semboku 5000 series (泉北5000系 Senboku 5000-kei) is an electric multiple unit (EMU) train type operated by the private railway operator Semboku Rapid Railway.[1]
Design
The 5000 Series is the first original design for the Semboku Railway. Previous models were based on units used on the Nankai Line.
Operations
The trains are used on through-services from Namba to Izumi-Chūō via the Nankai Main Line and Semboku Line, as well as on services on the Koya Line.
Formation
The 5000 series are eight-car trainsets. It is formed as follows, with four driving motor ("M") cars and four non-powered intermediate trailer ("T") cars. The odd-numbered cars are at the Izumi-Chuo end.
There is a set of couplers between cars 4 and 5 to allow for easier inspection and separation (if necessary).

Interior
Seating consists of longitudinal seating throughout.
The trains were refurbished between 2015 and 2020. This included the installation of a wheelchair space in car 1 and the installation of LCD screens which display information in four languages.
