Semi-Live

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Semi-Live is an independent institution founded by Markus Hohenfellner in 2015. Its aim is to improve surgical training and international exchange, particularly in the field of Urology.

Semi-Live includes regular international symposiums that focus on contemporary, state-of-the art urologic procedures, as well as the Semi-Live App, a video atlas which allows access to all videos of the past Semi-Live congresses.

In 2015 and 2017, the first international English-speaking congresses took place in Heidelberg, Germany. In March 2020 Semi-Live took place in Goa, India.

Since its introduction, the Semi-live format has been introduced in surgical education across disciplines over the past few years.

The Semi-Live symposiums include the presentation of pre-recorded, high definition surgical videos, which are commented live by the respective surgeons themselves in front of the audience. This allows the surgeons to record their ideal surgical case and to efficiently present anatomical landmarks, access strategies, important steps, tricks, pitfalls and complication management.

Compared to live surgery events, the Semi-Live concept allows foreign surgeons to show operative procedures without coming into conflict with the licensing authorities. Also, it allows the interaction between the operators and the auditorium, as well as a better planning and a significant cost reduction of the events.
