Seo Soo-jin (Hangul: 서수진; born March 9, 1998), better known mononymously as Soojin, is a South Korean dancer and vocalist signed to Cube Entertainment. She is best known as a member of South Korean girl-group (G)I-DLE.
Life and Career
1998-2017: Early life and predebut
Soojin was born on March 9, 1998. Persuaded by her mother to learn jazz dance, she discovered a passion for dance and music. Her father initially discouraged her dreams of becoming a singer, but at age 15, she finally persuaded him to allow her to pursue a career in entertainment.
She was later accepted into Korean Arts High School, where she honed her skills as a vocalist, dancer, and performer – even joining a dance team. As time passed, just before her third year of high school, she was offered the chance to audition for Cube Entertainment. She was accepted and became a trainee with the company in 2016, going on to debut with (G)I-dle in 2017.
Before training with Cube Entertainment, at some unknown time, she was a trainee with DN Entertainment. She was supposed to be a member of then-upcoming South Korean girl-group VIVIDIVA [1] under the stage name N.na [2] (앤나), but withdrew from the group in 2015, before its debut.
2018-present: Debut with (G)I-dle
On April 10, 2018, Soojin was introduced as a member of upcoming girl group (G)I-dle.[3]
On May 2, 2018, she debuted as an official member of (G)I-dle following the release of the group’s first mini-album, I Am.[4]
Personal Life
In August 2018, it was confirmed that she and Pentagon member Hui had dated and broken up.[5]
