Seongmu Lee
Born in Goesan-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, he entered Seoul National University by passing the qualification exam before completing bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. Lee worked as a lecturer at the same university, Hongik University, and Kookmin University. In 1980, he became a researcher at the Korean Institute of Spiritual Culture (currently the Academy of Korean Studies) and worked as a professor for 20 years from 1983 to nurturing younger students.[1] Through his numerous papers and research activities, he was recognized as an authority on the study of Joseon Dynasty history.[2][3]
From 1999 to 2003, Lee was the Chairman of the National History Compilation Committee of Korea.[1]
