Early life and career[edit]

Serena began by working in the drafting of the Mino Damato program Alla ricerca dell’arca in 1989 and then continued in the team of other television broadcasts: Avanzi and Ultimo minuto format of docufiction.[1] In 1994 she collaborated in the documentary program Mi manda Lubrano (which later became Mi manda Raitre) becoming the following year reporter for live links.[2]

Her experience as a political journalist began in 1998: she is a correspondent and author for TeleCamere and in 2006 she is also its presenter.[2] Between 2000 and 2001 she made ten documentaries for Stream TV's Travel channel.[3] In 2007 she returned to the investigations of Mi manda Raitre as an author and then contributed to the conception of the format of the late evening Tatami program.[4] She is the author of the Rai 3 special Dodicesimo Presidente, hosted by Federica Sciarelli with the participation of Corrado Augias, dedicated to the election of the President of the Republic in January 2015.[5]

Since 2010 she is the author of the first edition of Agorà. She also holds the role of correspondent following the French presidential elections of 2012 and the American ones of 2016.[4] In the summer of 2013 she leads Agorà Estate together with Giovanni Anversa, a program of which she becomes the sole host starting from the following year.[6]

In 2016 she is the creator and host of two reportages that tell the contemporary world through relationships, entitled "Tutti salvi per amore", broadcast in the late evening on Rai 3.[7] On 28 June 2017, it is announced that she will take the place of Gerardo Greco at the conduction of Agorà, remaining until 26 June 2020.[8] The following 7 September she makes her debut on Rai 1 with a new broadcast, Oggi è un altro giorno.[9]
