Sergio Agnoli

Sergio Agnoli (2 March 1926 – 26 May 2021) was an Italian middle-distance runner and marathoner.
Biography[edit]
As a young man, he did not practice sports except for the parenthesis of the military service carried out in Asiago in the year 1948, where he won a 15 km cross-country ski race of national level.
After a long pause of sporting inactivity, he resumed training in 1986 with the run in Rome in the park of Villa Doria Pamphilj. In that year he participated in the New York Marathon, finishing it with a time of 3 hours and 19 minutes.[1]
In 1987, he participated in the Rome marathon, finishing it with a time of 2h58'2 ". Later he participated in the Rome-Ostia half-marathon.[2]
In 2003, he was awarded, as national athlete of the year, the Sabazia prize of the National Union of Veterans of Sport. He received the 2005 "Romano Pontisso" award from the CONI Provincial Committee of Rome, "for his great contribution to Roman sport". In the same year, he established the world record for the M80 half-marathon Master category in the Rome-Ostia race with a time of 1h 42'24 ".[3]
In 2011, in the FIDAL Master Championships, he made his debut in the walking specialty, realizing the best Italian time on the track in the 5000 m on the track (39 '00 "97) for the Master M85 category.[4]
