Service Lifecycle Management (SLM) describes software for managing maintenance and repair of products.

Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and 3rd party service providers use SLM in order to maximize opportunities, profitability, quality and compliance of their aftermarket business.

An effective service consideration begins during and even prior to product design as an integral part of the product lifecycle management (PLM).

SLM includes a wide range of different solutions with the following as examples:

·        Product and asset data management and configuration[1]

·        Enterprise Asset Management (EAM)[2]

·        Asset Performance Management (APM)[3]

·        Spare parts inventory management[4]

·        Logistics[5]

A key to a successful SLM implementation is an ability to integrate between different IT and OT solutions. For example, bring accurate and up-to-date product engineering data from PLM such as work instructions, diagrams and specifications to service technicians, as well as usage data such as asset utilization, part movements and fault codes back into PLM to drive continuous product design improvement.
